Political Leadership Development

We provide training, professional development, mentoring and guidance to elected politicians, officials, ministers and advisers, as individuals or as part of institutional support programmes.

Our professional development courses fall into four broad areas:

Strategic leadership skills

Designed to help leaders address immediate problems and build long-term strategic skills, develop their own distinctive styles and approaches, build resilience and manage transformation. Courses cover the following:

Strategy, leadership styles, management and change
Understanding behaviour, interests and incentives in political institutions
Women’s political leadership
Campaign strategy and communications
Effective individual communications, public speaking and social media

Effective politics and policy

Engaging with the practicalities of the how to be effective as a politician from constituency to committee to chamber:

Committees, debates and effective questioning
The legislative process, scrutiny and oversight
Strategic approaches to constituency casework and campaigning
Engaging with ministers and government departments: how to get stuff done
Working across tiers of government: local, regional, national and international

Institutional support

As well as support to individual politicians, ministers and officials, we have delivered induction courses and training for parliaments, ministries and local government bodies around the world, in countries as diverse as Iraq, Ukraine and . We are accredited providers of training to a number of institutions, through which individual MPs and Committees can commission us, including:

Support to political parties

We provide training and development, strategy and support to political parties around the world, particularly relating to campaigning, training candidates, preparing for government, and internal policymaking processes.
