Modern Slavery Statement
Our Commitment
At The Governance Practice, we are committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our work.
We believe in the dignity, rights and freedoms of all individuals and have a zero-tolerance approach to forced labour, human trafficking and exploitation.
This page provides an overview of our approach. Our full policy (available on request) sets out the standards, due diligence processes and safeguards that apply across our operations, partnerships and supply chains.
Our Approach
We work to:
- identify and manage risks of modern slavery in our work
- ensure ethical practices across our programmes, partnerships and operations
- promote transparency and accountability
- create a culture where concerns can be raised safely
Our work often takes place in complex and higher-risk environments. We take a risk-based approach to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
Managing Risk
We take steps to identify and reduce risks of modern slavery, including:
- conducting due diligence on partners, suppliers and associates
- assessing risks in programme delivery and operations
- ensuring procurement processes reflect ethical standards
- monitoring supply chains and contractual relationships
We do not knowingly work with organisations or individuals involved in modern slavery or human trafficking.
Working with Partners and Suppliers
We expect all partners, suppliers and associates to meet our standards.
This includes:
- complying with relevant laws and donor requirements
- operating fair and ethical labour practices
- taking steps to identify and manage risks in their own work
Where needed, we work with partners to strengthen their approach to managing these risks.
Raising a Concern
Anyone – staff, partners, or members of the public – can raise concerns about modern slavery in our work.
Concerns can be reported via:
- Email: reportingconcerns@thegovernancepractice.net
- Online form: Safeguarding Contact Form
Reports can be made confidentially.
What Happens Next
When a concern is raised, we will:
- assess and respond promptly
- investigate where appropriate
- take action, including ending relationships where necessary
- report serious issues to relevant authorities or stakeholders
All concerns are handled sensitively and appropriately.
